Job Description:
The Welding Instructor position is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position with an anticipated start date of August 2023. This position requires a passion for effective teaching and advising of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The successful candidate will teach occupational skills and knowledge to provide students with the competence to become skilled in their field; demonstrate occupational materials, tools, equipment, and processes using standard or instructor-prepared instructional aides; instruct students in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools and equipment; control the storage, maintenance, and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse; and establish and maintain standards of student conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment in an activity-type classroom. Additionally, the instructor will recruit eligible students; coordinate student credentialing efforts; assist with determining appropriate program specific learning outcomes; participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes; and collaborate with administrators to strengthen program advisory committees. This position reports to the Dean, Workforce Education
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an Associate Degree; or certificate in Welding and three years of trade experience; or six years of trade experience; proficiency in preparing students to become welders, including workplace safety and organization, manufacturing processes, metals identification, interpretation of welding symbols, oxyfuel gas cutting practices, plasma arc cutting principles, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), and an understanding of pipe welding.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or related field, Florida Licensed Contractor, or NCCER Certified Craft Instructor.
SALARY RANGE (2023-2024 Academic Year):
$35,700 - $41,700 for a 9-month contract with a Bachelor’s degree.
$38,500 - $44,500 for a 9-month contract with a Master’s degree.
(Entry level salary is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.)

Pay Details:
Faculty members hired with less than three years of related experience shall be placed on the salary schedule as follows:
164 Day Base (2023 - 2024)
- Bachelor's or Less - $35,700
- Master's - $38,500
- Master's Plus - $40,250
- Doctorate - $43,350
All degree classification levels add the appropriate dollars (up to $6,000) for years of credited experience to the annual salary figures above to determine entry salary.
